Breast cancer fights

May 29th, 2009

I was happy to participate in the “on deck for the cure” walk for many reasons: I had a chance to spend more time with my children, I love walking, I have contributed a little to a fund-raising event against breast cancer.
There are many walks against breast cancer going around everywhere. You can go online and find one in your area. I am sure you will enjoy your experience.
I want to congratulate Carnival cruises for creating and participating in such a great action as the walk on deck against breast malignancy. I certainly wish that the activity gets more publicity and grows. One thing that would be very cool is to see an entire cruise attendees strolling on deck and raising lots of money against breast cancer. Perhaps I should work on that.

Google and Microsoft are fantastic. Yet we receive hundreds of spamming emails a day and I just deleted 600 spamming comments on this site. I beg Google and Microsoft to offer us a good tool to clean the internet of all this junk once and for all!!

working-out in your home

Your own house gym: what is the most important piece of equipment in my opinion
Having your own house gymnasium is a great way to have easy and fast access to gym equipment. The problem that more than 95% of house gymnasium owners face is that they do not use their exercising equipment enough. In the beginning, most new home gym owners will be thrilled to use their new exercise equipment but their motivation will rapidly go away.

weight loss quick

April 8th, 2009

How can a person keep on with her new resolutions of workout regularly and keeping fit with the help of her home gym? The answer I found that worked great for me is quite simple: I need to get my mind off the fact that I am exercising. I know many trainers will say you should focus on the exercises you are doing and look at yourself in the mirror to correct your posture while you workout, etc. If I do that, only focus on the exercises and push myself, I feel like stopping after ten to fifteen minutes into my exercise routine.
On the other hand, when I am in my house gymnasium and workout on the machines, I don’t mind workout for more than half an hour if I am listening to my self-hypnosis recordings.

Recession doesn’t have to be the end

March 17th, 2009

The other big expense in a loved one’s budget goes for food. I was alarmed to hear a news bulletin saying that most North American’s consume forty percent of all the food they buy. After my surprise was gone, I has to sadly admit that this number although astounding seamed pretty right for me. We all know of the trick to never go grocery browsing on an stomach empty because we tend to buy more which is right. I would add top this that by learning how to say no to my children to all the things they want to put in the cart I have overseen to cut down on my food expenses a lot.
Another considerable amount of dollars is spent on eating at the restaurant or ordering out. It can be sometimes hard to cook when you are juggling with one or two jobs trying to make ends meet. Most recipes can easily be doubled and then you can freeze half of it and have a meal ready when you need it. Another great way not to buy too much when grocery browsing is always to have a browsing list at hand. It is a proven fact that when we do not have a clear idea of what our weekly menu will be, we tend to buy too much and then consume too much food.
Recession is going to be here for awhile and the good part about this is that we may develop better consuming habits and consume lees food and energy on the long run.

Recession buster ideas: how to get the most of your buck
Financial crisis, foreclosure, bankruptcy and overall financial tension are on most people’s mind today. There are easy ways to save money while not feeling like you are depriving yourself and your loved ones. The largest spending on a loved ones budget are for lodging and food. Since everyone needs a place to stay, you cannot skip the fact that you need to pay for mortgage or rent. The first thing you need to do though is check if you are getting a good deal on the money you are spending. By just browsing around and asking for mortgage ranges, a person can save good money.

Groomsmen ushers

- For the men helping in the wedding  ceremony, it’s a little more difficult to choose an right gift. If you can’t find something that
will be right for all of them, you can choose
comparable but different Gifts.

Beer steins, shot glasses, and other alike objects can
be used, or something else that will reflect their
individuality and thank them for helping in the marriage.

My friend Jill

February 15th, 2009

I have a friend who is my age and is a lot like me. We are going to call her Jill although that is not her real name. She is a very hard working person, always going the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy and well served. She is also a devoted mother and we used to see each other very frequently in arenas when our children were playing hockey.

Last summer Jill called me and was pretty mad when she said: “I promised myself I would not cry!” She went on to tell me that a colonoscopy had revealed a malignant tumor in her colon and that she was scheduled to have it removed and then chimiotherapy. She needed more tests to see if the cancer had spread which I highly doubted since she is so young and they cought it in time…so I thought!

During one of the scans, she suffered a panic attack and could not tolerate being place on a secluded narrow box. It is easy for me to figure out what she was thinking then.

The tests revealed there was a spot on her liver. Her physicians decided to go with a very aggresive treatment and do surgery. By the time she got the surgery a couple of weeks later, there were now over 10 spots. Although everyone is enthousiastic and talking about the “spots” getting removed surgically which they did, I felt like the only person aware of the elephant in the  room. They are going to restart another set of chimio. I would choose every possible avenue if I were in Jill’s shoes.

Jill has the best attitude on the world and is fighting this with every once of courage she has. I just don’t know how to help her.

I send her all my love here tonight…because nobody deserves what she is going through.

Tough times are good times to give!

February 12th, 2009

In such a rough economic period many people feel like they are down to their last dollars and cannot give to charity. There are many cheap or free ways to help people who are in need. By donating your time, you can make a huge difference in someone’s life. You will also feel good about what you are doing and maybe will be better placed to realize that your situation is not as bad as other’s.

As I often go on medical missions, I bring all kinds of little gifts for the children and women. My sister Isabelle and my niece Laurence had the great idea of creating all kinds of crafts to give away. Here are some pictures of what they had fun creating.
