Tip 2: Eat Healthy
We are what we eat, and in skincare, this old adage holds true. There are many vitamins and minerals involved in regulating the beauty and health of our skin. Eating the right things can really help in the fight against wrinkles. A scientist studying wrinkles in Kenya found out that elderly people in certain villages which has access to clean drinking water and healthy, natural food, show very little signs of ageing.
Acne treatment becomes easier with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
One respondent, a 63- year old Kenyan man who regularly eats raw fruits and vegetables, and fresh honey daily, did not show as many wrinkles as his western counterparts who eat fast food on a regular basis. The scientists who reviewed his study was shock because they said most people in more affluent areas of rural Kenya looked at least 20 years younger than Americans of the same ages. Vitamin A, E, Niacin and Zinc can help in regulating the skin’s repair and replenishing processes, and eating food that are rich in these can help one win the fight against wrinkles.
Montreal, August 16, 2008. Nathalie Fiset, M.D., a Canadian family doctor has participated in nine medical missions in Mexico, Bolivia and Honduras since 2004. On April 2008, she came down to El Ranchito, a remote area in Mexico, determined to build a school for underprivileged children. She had previously been very successful at collecting donations from her friends and patients and was determined to complete her project.
On April 12, 2008, she came down to Mexico with her father mister Rene Fiset, a retired electrician, convinced she would encounter no problem starting and finishing the school with the help of local manpower.
All went as planned and the foundations of the school were rapidly laid out. “After that, trouble started happening!” Dr Fiset recalls. The material was all paid for and the only task left was to bring it to the site and the workers would finish the construction of the school. The first problem was to transport the material to El Ranchito, a small town only accessible after three hours of driving, one hour on very poor condition dirt roads.
“My Mexican contacts assured me they would help bring the material for free within a week” reported Dr Fiset to the press. I accepted as this would have saved the project thousands of dollars in transport fees. Unfortunately, events took a turn for the worst after that.
After being promised for thirteen days in a row that the material would be delivered the next day, she decided to again go to El Ranchito with her father as their trip was coming to an end. They travelled the hard roads for four hours, witnessing dead donkeys on the side of the road and a dead six-foot snake in the middle of the road. Their disappointment grew as they arrived in the little Mexican village as they realized nothing had been done since their last trip and no material had been delivered.
Dr Fiset and her father had to return home to Canada the next day. The family physician has been emailing every week. She even got in touch with the Mexican Ministry of Education and called repeatedly ever since to all her contacts in Mexico. “I know we are close to completing the school for the children and I must keep pushing,” Dr Fiset strongly emphasizes. “I just had not planned to be stuck so close to my goal.”
When asked if she plans on doing other projects like this one, she answers without hesitation, “Of course!”
